FLASH BACK TO 1985

I keep an eye out for anything related to the Atlanta NY Depot. and while surfing EBAY I found some slides from September 1985 and some more from 1987, below are some from 1985, this shows the Depot after a period when it was owned by the American Legion. A number of years back there was a small parcel of land located between the Depot and the Mt. View inn. There was a for sale sign on the property and when I contacted the seller I was told it was a lot owned by the Legion, the fellow went on to tell me they once owned the D L&W Depot and used it as their meeting place. He continued to tell me how they had excavated quite a bit of material from under the waiting room end and had poured a considerable amount of concrete to shore up the foundation.

After reviewing the slides and converting them to digital images it would appear the old codger was correct, there was a bit of excavation done and the photo's show the debris piles that were dumped outside. from the look of the structure it had gone down hill quite a bit from the 1977 picture I have on this blog, look back a few articles to see. Enjoy the recent trove of pictures I have converted and posted.

more to come from 1987 next article
