I have just received a post card from a fellow in Ithaca NY. this was listed on EBAY and I just had to have it. This post card ( I say post card because the reverse has a post card layout) address and postage stamp; circa 1909, I have studied the card and stamp. the post mark is smudged and unreadable, the stamp is a one cent Franklin and was made from 1908 to 1911, the photo shows elements of construction that predate two of my other cards.
Original curved roof line, no electricity & no sign of a crossing sign which appears in a later post card.
I would put this photo about 1900, I believe it would have been made from a glass negative, the cameraman did not account for the bright sun and handled the negative so we can see his fingerprints, the card has quite a bit of wear from handling or rubbing against another card likely in a box of papers or it has been in the sun for a long time.
