I/we have continued our diligence each Sunday and as of writing this post we have completed our task for now. With the help of my son Will, all of the damaged panes of glass have been replaced and most of the rest have been re glazed.
My son has really impressed me with his willingness to help me repair the station. He has been a real help. The both of us have become window experts, and by splitting up the work we move along rather quickly. I have also found that while we have the sash out it is helpful to scrape away the 145 years of paint buildup from the frames and the casings. after reassembly of the sash & frame I throw a quick coat of paint on for some short term protection.
He & I will continue Sunday duties with thoughts to repair trim, window sills and scrape more old paint off. then before it is too cold get a coat of color on the old station.
