Postcards from the past

Pictures and postcards displayed on this sight are scans of items I possess, they are here to be shared with the world.

This is the first postcard I obtained for the Atlanta NY depot: it was mailed to me by a fellow from Scottsdale Arizona. He had come across it in his late mother in laws effects; she had grown up in Cohocton and lived there for some time. The note that came with it said " I sent a copy of this to the town historian and got your address from the town clerk, I thought you may like it" I was so happy to have it I sent he and his wife a gift certificate for a nice restaurant near his home. My copy is blank and unused, the photo is from an era where electricity is available, note the light on the corner of the overhang and the electrical conduit running across below the Atlanta sign. This is not shown in the next post card. The gull wing eves have been covered with wood to help relieve the snow load, the original "yankee gutters" have been done away with and half round gutters have been added as well as different pipes and down spouts which hang much lower and out further than shown in earlier photos.

I have never seen another copy of this post card anywhere.(web or otherwise)
